A few of our tree fruit varieties are pictured with a short description:

Smokehouse: Very distinctive, fruity flavor make this old timer a preferred choice for eating or sauce (my personal favorite). Not a good keeper.

Red Delicious: A favorite eating and desert apple. They are sweet and moderately crisp.

Crispin (aka  Mutsu):

A large, firm, refreshing & super crisp apple with a tinge of tartness. A good baking apple, great as whole roasted apples.

Rome Beauty:  An attractive, often slightly speckled apple preferred for pies & dumplings. Its mildly tart flesh is greenish white.  Drier, firm flesh makes this a good storing apple.

Idared : Firm, sweetly-tart flavored apple with firm, yellow-green flesh. Good for either fresh eating, sauce or baking.

Staymen/Winesap:  These are a tart, juicy apple used mainly for baking. We try to include in cider blend to improve flavor.

McIntosh: Named for John McIntosh who discovered this apple in 1811, this is the old favorite of many. It has a very juicy, tender flesh that cooks down quickly. Well suited for softer textured  turnovers or pies if a thickener is used.

Jonagold : A honey-sweet flavor with a hint of tartness. This  variety has juicy, crisp creamy yellow flesh

Gala: Fastest in gaining popularity due to mild, sweet, fruity  flavor and crisp, creamy, yellow flesh.

Red Fuji :

A firm, spritey flavored apple... a choice of many for eating.

Yellow Delicious:

A distinctive, subtle,  mild, sweet flavor and sweetness to match. A popular eating apple also good in salads & sauces.

Enterprise apple:

A disease resistant variety. Apples are very firm & crisp with little distinctive flavor. They are good in pies and salads.

HoneyCrisp apple:

A very sweet, crisp, yet juicy apple gaining popularity every year. Definitely a superb eating apple. Watch for it in September, a few weeks before others.

Northern Spy apple:

One of largest apples well suited for single apple dumplings. Also preferred for its fresh flavor.

Yellow Transparent:

A summer bearing apple which lends itself well to sauces, pies or turnovers. A slightly tart flavor when picked with green tinge makes this a suitable early eating apple.

Bartlett pear: A favorite eating pear. These are juicy & sweet. Ripen quickly and soften so must be used soon after picking.

Anjou pear: A firmer, later ripening pear. Similar flavor to Bartlett.

Ace plum: A good snack plum. Produces well in this area.
